Hints & Tips for a Dream Wedding on Maui, Hawaii

Your Day is About You
What makes you special as a couple? Is it a love of adventure? A passion for old movies? Addiction to crossword puzzles? Talk about it. (It’s a fun thing to discuss and you may just find yourselves falling deeper in love as you talk. If that’s possible…) Let us know. We can work together to make sure that the two of you are reflected in the details.

Aaah, In Paradise…
If you have a few days here on Maui before the ceremony, remember the tropical sun. Sunbathe with care because, well, think about a vicious sunburn on the day… And you may want to be careful of tan lines that will show.
 Research, Research, Research…
There are a lot of great bridal resources out there and it only makes sense to use them. If you see a cake, a bouquet, a hair style or anything else that you like, clip it and send us a copy. We’ll get it made.
If your regular hair stylist has the greatest “do” in the universe, have her “do” you and take a picture.
It’s a lot easier to work from visuals than from verbal descriptions!

You and Your Guests
Is there anything that we should know? Do Uncle Joe and Cousin Jeff constantly argue about the Civil War when they sit next to each other? Does your best friend Suzie have a secret crush on the best man? The more we know about any special interpersonal dynamics, the better we can serve you and your entire party.

To Make, or Not to Make
Make-up. A professional make up artist is a really good idea. They know how to apply the cosmetics for the best photographic results. If you want a natural look, just say so. Something more dramatic, no problem. What you see in the mirror is not what the camera will see. Trust us.

Now, Relax and Enjoy
We’ve read that weddings are more stressful than funerals. Of course, we don’t believe it because we know better. It is impossible for you to make a mistake on your day. Simply because it is your day.
You’re in capable hands. Relax and enjoy this very special day. Let us work our magic behind the scenes while you and your guests rejoice!

In the Air
We strongly recommend that you do not check any items that are essential to the wedding. Although we assume they try not to, airlines have been known to “misplace” luggage. Carry on anything that you cannot do without.

Lights, Camera…
Ah, yes. About photography. There are a couple of points here.
The first thing is about communication. If there is anything that either of you is self conscious about, let us know. And that includes the man also. Our photographers are professionals who can avoid angles that might make the bride hate her hips or the groom want to chop off his nose. But we need to know beforehand.
The second thing is strictly optional. Now, promise not to laugh. You might want to practice posing as a couple in front of the mirror. Your photographer will certainly coach you as he or she shoots but maybe, just maybe, you will have discovered a neat and untraditional pose on your own. It’s all about making your day your day!
Now we’re going to get bossy again. Please discuss any special shots that you or your immediate family want. Do you want to send a formal portrait of the entire wedding party to a friend or relative that can’t be there? Or do you want a slightly goofy shot for your college roommate who is counting gorillas in the Congo? We need to know.
